Putney Photographers Produce Advent Exhibition | |||
Local group are celebrating the area as a place to live and work
The Putney satellite group of London Independent Photography and Positively Putney have put together an Advent photographic exhibition in Putney shops. 24 local photographers are unveiling a photo a day throughout Christmas in their take on the traditional advent calendar. One photo is being revealed on social media each morning and all twenty four are also decorating empty shop windows on Putney High Street and on Putney Wharf. The images aim to remind us why Putney is such a wonderful place to live and work. You can see the photos that have been taken here. As part of London Independent Photography, the group is run by local author and photographer Andrew Wilson. He says, ‘Our group could not hold our normal photography exhibition and noticed that Putney had a number of empty units and so we felt it would be a good way to solve both problems.’ Nicola Grant, Executive Director, Positively Putney says “I was delighted when Andrew proposed his idea to me. The Advent photos allow us to celebrate the fantastic aspects of living in Putney. They have also solved the issue of sad looking empty windows.” They are also helping to raise awareness and money for Dons Local Action Group. If you would like to buy any of the prints contact Andrew Wilson on 07710 394444. 20% from the sale of any of the pictures in this Advent Photographic Exhibition will be going to Dons Local Action Group. The group was formed in response to the Covid=19 crisis to combat poverty and isolation. They welcome donations of food (outside Putney Sainsbury’s), laptops, furniture and your time as a volunteer.
