Loose Women panellist Martine McCutcheon has told how her fear of the traffic in Putney nearly led to her driving into the recent terrorist incident at Westminster Bridge.

In a section on the show about near-misses and freaky coincidences the former EastEnders star told the other presenters how she had been driving in London that afternoon with her husband Jack McManus. The couple took that route regularly and normally their SatNav would direct them over Westminster Bridge. On this particular day, for a reason Martine couldn’t explain, the SatNav instructed them to take a different route which would have meant them crossing the river at Putney Bridge. She told the audience that she didn’t want to go that way because, ‘Putney’s always really busy.’

She said, "Jack said we should follow it, and usually I'd argue, but there was like this flutter or something in me, so we went over Putney Bridge.”

As a result they had just passed Westminster Bridge on the south side of the river when the incident began.
