Officers from Thamesfield Safer Neighbourhoods Team have recently been enforcing the "No Cycling" prohibition along QUILL LANE, PUTNEY SW15 in response to concerns raised by local residents about cyclists and motorcycles using the pedestrianised area as a cut through. Several fixed penalty notices have been issued as part of an effort to stop vehicular traffic using the narrow lane that has a dog leg bend in it.

A local resident said, "Having lived in the lane for many years and been concerned at the increasing level of both bicycle and motorbike traffic whizzing down it, we are all extremely pleased that the local police team has recently decided to monitor these activities at various times of the day. As a result of their efforts, we are seeing fewer cyclists, and only hope this is soon reduced to none."

Sergeant Roger Chapple said, "We have received a positive response to our action from the residents and people who use Quill Lane alike, especially mothers with children in push chairs. The safety of the public is our primary concern. We will continue to look at this problem to find a permanent solution to stopping vehicular traffic using this road illegally."
