Marcus Barker, the former head of Ashcroft Technology Academy has been charged with a number of counts of indecent assault on a minor. The offences are alleged to have occurred in the eighties before he became a teacher and have no connection with the school.

When the school was contacted, the Academy would simply state that Mr. Barker is no longer connected with Ashcroft Technology Academy and the historic allegations against him have no relation to the Academy.

The 54-year-old who lives in Esher was at the school in Putney for nearly ten years before his resignation earlier this year.

He appeared at Staffordshire Magistrates’ Court on 27 April to plead not guilty to five counts of indecent assault on a boy aged under 16.

His trial is due to commence on 26 May at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
