But later the 41-year-old was released without further action

Police investigating an assault on a woman on Putney Bridge in which she appears to have been pushed into the path of a bus by a jogger have arrested and released a second man.

An unnamed suspect was questioned at a South London police station on Saturday (12 August) by officers acting on information received as a result of their appeal about the incident which took place on Friday, 5 May.

The 41-year-old man was held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and then released by police with no further action to be taken on the same day they cleared Eric Bellquist, also aged 41. Mr Bellquist, who works for a private equity firm and is a director of Wagamamma and Byron Hamburgers was able to prove he was in the United States at the time of the attack.

Police say there has been a positive public response to the appeal so far with a range of information provided to investigating officers. However, some people have simply put forward possible names for the suspect and officers would urge those people to please contact police or Crimestoppers again with as much information as they have so they can follow up those lines of enquiry.

At about 7.40am on Friday, 5 May the 33-year-old victim was walking across Putney Bridge on the east side heading in the direction of Fulham towards Putney Bridge Tube Station when a male jogger knocked her over into the road and into the path of an oncoming bus, which narrowly missed hitting her.

The bus stopped and some passengers got off and rushed to the victim's aid. She received minor injuries from the incident.

About 15 minutes later the jogger came back the other way across the bridge. The victim tried to speak to him but he did not acknowledge her and carried on jogging.
