A preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey has heard some of the details of the case against two people accused of killing a toddler in Putney in August 2019.

A post mortem examination of 15-month-old Jacob Lennon suggested he was the victim of systematic abuse before he died of a head injury according to the prosecutor.

It is alleged that he had suffered a series of previous injuries including to his genitals.

Jacob was found unconscious by paramedics at his home on the morning of 27 August 2019. He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The boy’s mother, 31-year-old Louise Lennon, has been charged with child neglect and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Her boyfriend at the time, Jake Drummond, also aged 31 has been charged with murder and grievous bodily harm. He was not Jacob’s father.

The pair bother appeared in person at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Friday 3 December before the Old Bailey hearing on Tuesday 7 December.

Jake Drummond appeare by video-link from Wandsworth prison and was remanded in custody by the judge.

Louise Lennon, who now lives in Battersea, was granted conditional bail.

A further hearing on the case is due to take place on 22 February.
