Police Holding Meeting on Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls
New Met for London event at Roehampton University
This is the third event in a series held across the borough

As part of the Metropolitan Police’s ‘New Met for London’ initiative, an event is being held at Roehampton University on the subject of tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG).
The police want people to join them to contribute to their mission to make Wandsworth a safe place for women and girls to work, visit and live.
There will be a chance to hear and give feedback on plans for policing in Roehampton, Putney and Wandsworth as well as speak directly to senior staff and members of the local Safer Neighbourhood Teams.
Staff from the Public Protection teams will be there as well as council employees working on the issue.
There will be discussions on tackling VAWG and crime across Wandsworth and locally, including within the university.
The meeting takes place in the Portrait Room, Grove House, Froebel College Roehampton Lane, SW15 5PJ from 6pm to 9.30pm on Thursday 25 January.
Refreshments and food will be provided.
It is the third of a series of meetings that the police have held in the borough with the previous two in Battersea and Tooting. The police say these events have led to some important and challenging conversations.
The event in October at The White Eagle Club, Tooting, showed that attendees valued having more officers visible on foot patrol in areas that women and girls feel unsafe, spreading awareness on when to report VAWG incidents, and providing better training, including trauma informed training, for officers responding to incidents of VAWG.
