A police officer has been injured after a suspect being detained for drugs and handling offences resisted arrest.

A drugs warrant was being executed at a flat in Roehampton on Saturday night (16 August) and a man had been arrested for possession of cannabis and handling stolen goods.

As he was being taken outside the prisoner became abusive to the officers and refused to leave the flat. A struggle followed and one of the arresting officers was kicked by the prisoner and injured.

This then became a struggle to remove him and in the process an officer was kicked by the suspect causing an injury which required him to be taken to hospital.

The police have told us that the officer is now 'recovering well'.

The arrested man has since been interviewed and bailed back to Wandsworth Police for further enquiries.
