Beth Murphy and her 15 year old daughter had gone to aid of another tourist
On Easter Sunday, Putney teacher, Beth Murphy, her fifteen year old daughter, Ella and a friend were on the Khao San Road in Bangkok, a tourist hot spot when they noticed a tourist being attacked by five men in mini skirts.
Thirty nine year old Beth described what they saw as 'a brawl' and she told The Mail Online:
'A guy crashed to the floor. It was ferocious. I thought it was five women attacking him, but their bowed legs and Adam's apples gave them away.'
Ella went to the assistance of the tourist and the ladyboys turned on her. Beth said:
'Ella was the only one who went up to help him. Then the gang turned around and went for her.
They must have thought she was his girlfriend of something. She was kicked in the stomach and hit in the face and they tore out clumps of her hair. She was curled up in a ball on the floor.'
Thai Tourist Police intervened and took Beth her daughter and friend to a local police station. Ms Murphy said that the Police offered no medical assistance despite her head bleeding (she had also been stabbed on the shoulder with a stiletto shoe. She said that the officers wanted money from her. She reported that the officers took money from each assailant who were then allowed to walk away.
Ms Murphy told the Mail Online: 'It was such an injustice. If it had been in the UK, it would have been GBH.'
