An enterprising young pupil from Putney's Falcons School for Girls has hosted her own Bring & Buy Sale, raising much-needed funds for worthy causes, including local charity FiSH Neighbourhood Care.
Eleven year old Robyn Gilbert, who initiated the project herself, set up a stall on the driveway of her family’s home, raising an impressive £600 selling items such as toys, books and games to her neighbours and friends. The funds gathered will be evenly split and donated to the local charity which aims to combat loneliness and social isolation in older and vulnerable people living in Barnes, Mortlake and East Sheen, and the NHS.
Headmistress, Mrs Sara Williams-Ryan commented: “We are very proud of Robyn for using her initiative to embark on this charitable project, demonstrating her resourcefulness and desire to help others. At Falcons School for Girls, we place great importance on charitable actions and widely encourage our pupils to give something back to their local community, to instil within them from a young age a sense of empathy and the importance of giving.”
The school is hosting a ‘Come and See Us’ event on Saturday 27 June from 9am – 3pm. The event is by appointment only and will adhere to social distancing guidelines by taking place outdoors, allowing prospective parents to talk with the Head, Deputy Head and other key members of staff.
