Two Deaths In Putney Within Forty Minutes | ||||
Pedestrian hit by a lorry and a man by a train on Wednesday morning
Putney was left reeling from a double tragedy this week when two people were killed within a short distance of each other within an hour. There is nothing to suggest that the timing of the two deaths was anything other than an unfortunate coincidence. On Wednesday (7 November) shortly before 9.42am the first fatality occurred when a pedestrian was hit at the junction of Putney High Street and Werter Road. London Ambulance Service attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver stopped after the collision. Local road closures were put in place at the time of the incident. At the time of writing the victim has not been named although it is understood that next of kin have been informed. A spokesperson for British Transport Police said, “Officers were called to Putney station after reports of a person being struck by a train. “Colleagues from the London Ambulance Service also attended, however, a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene." The emergency services have completed their work at the station and trains have resumed operation having been suspended between Barnes and Clapham Junction. |
