Nominated to receive £2,500 cash in recycling competition draw
A resident from Putney has won the second and final round of this year’s Golden Ticket recycling prize draw and nominated the Friends of Putney Library to receive the cash. The Golden Ticket prize draw winner can nominate a registered community group for a £2,500 community prize. Chairman Colleen Samuel said, “We are all thrilled with the award and will consider how best to use the money for the benefit of Putney library users.” The Mayor of Wandsworth Cllr Richard Field said, “I’m delighted that the Friends of Putney Library were chosen to receive this award. They are working with our library contractor GLL to help ensure the library is at the heart of Putney and provides the very best service it can to local people.” The Golden Ticket competition is run by the Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA). It encourages people to recycle correctly because only tickets placed in clear recycling bags filled correctly with recyclable items are included in the draw. WRWA is responsible for waste disposal and sorting the mixed recycling collected across the London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Lambeth, Wandsworth and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
