work expected to be completed by April

The new lay-out was agreed by London Buses and the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators and followed two separate consultations with people in the area.

The changes were needed to provide extra space for existing buses and to accommodate the 37 bus which currently stands outside residential properties in St Johns Avenue. This location offers no toilet facilities for drivers while householders suffer from noise and fumes as the buses stand with their engines running.

The works to enlarge the existing stand opposite the Green Man public house do not take any land from Putney Heath. New trees will be planted in the Spring to replace the previous screen alongside Tibbets Ride.

The costs for the alterations are being met by Transport for London.
