30-year East Putney resident Eileen Flanagan has been selected by members of the Labour party to contest next May's council elections. Eileen, who lives in Upper Richmond Road, is 53 and works for a Housing Association managing the provision and maintenance of affordable homes for those who otherwise would be priced out of London. She is an active member of the Unison trade union, Eileen has also trained in law.

Speaking after her selection, Eileen said: "Putney has been neglected by the Council - just look at how Putney High Street has got more and more run-down due to their neglect. The Tories hold every single council seat in Putney - it's made them complacent - and they don't deserve it. Labour has picked East Putney locals: you have the choice to trim the Tories' undeserved majority down to size."
