Lidl Putney High Street Opening Looks Imminent | ||||
No date confirmed but set to welcome customers before end of month
The long awaited opening of the Lidl store on Putney High Street looks likely to take place this month. A number of local sources have suggested that the grand opening will take place on Thursday, 25 February. We asked the retailer's HQ to confirm this but they could only say that an announcement will be made in due course. The store started construction work at the site last February just as the pandemic hit and were originally hoping to open last autumn. The new store is at the former Halfords and Superdrug premises at number 66 will have a 574m² sales area and will also feature facilities including an in-store bakery and parking for cars. The opening hours given on the Premises Licence document (number: 2019/303953) are for the store to be open seven days a week from 7am to 11pm. It is not known if these will be the operating hours of the store when it commences trading. The new supermarket forms part of the company’s £1.45bn investment in its expansion across Great Britain in 2019 and 2020.
