Putney based boutique law firm, Posada & Co, raised nearly £5,000 for charity this year after taking part in a will–writing campaign. Despite its relatively small size, the firm was the fifth highest donating firm in Greater London.
Posada & Co on Lower Richmond Road signed up to the annual Will Aid Scheme last year. The firm’s lawyers wrote wills for local people in exchange for a donation.
Nikita Assani, a trainee solicitor at the firm, said: “We are extremely pleased to have raised nearly £5,000 for such a worthwhile cause. Taking part in Will Aid has allowed us to give back to both our community and nine amazing charities.”
Will Aid, now in its 29th year, is a charity scheme that raises money for nine charities: ActionAid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save The Children, Sightsavers, Age UK, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).
Delfin Posada, a partner in the firm, said: “Not only is Will Aid a great opportunity to give to charity, but it is also a great opportunity for the community to put their affairs in order and write a Will. Of the nearly 50 wills we prepared during the month of November, 75% were for young couples writing their first Wills.”
Peter de Vena Franks, campaign director of Will Aid said: “Will Aid has made an amazing contribution to the work of the nine participating charities and last year was no exception. Thanks to the commitment of local solicitors that took part in this year’s Will Aid, many people both in the UK and abroad will receive life-changing support and local people who have used the scheme have the peace of mind thanks to having a professionally drawn up will.”
Will Aid will run again in November 2017. Solicitors and anyone who wants to make a will can find out more by visiting www.willaid.org.uk.
