Dumped Kittens Hand-reared at Putney Animal Hospital | ||||
24-hour care from RSPCA after one day old litter found
The RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital was called to rescue four one-day old kittens which had been dumped in a shoe box. The kittens - named Willow, Elsa, Anna and Olaf - were picked up from Fordingley Road, Paddington by RSPCA inspector Dale Grant and transported to Putney where they are now being hand reared around the clock. Inspector Grant said, “These kittens were so young they still had their umbilical cord attached and their eyes closed, but there was no sign of their mother. “It’s hard to imagine who would leave defenceless young animals in this way but we see so many unwanted litters coming into our centres at this time of year, we are overrun with kittens. “They may look cute but the reality of looking after them can be too much for some people and they end up being dumped. We would urge people to neuter their cats in the first instance and if they are struggling then please seek help before just abandoning an animal.” The RSPCA recently revealed it receives a call about an abandoned animal every six minutes during the summer months. There is at least an 85% increase in the number of animals reported abandoned in June, July and August 2018 compared to December, January and February 2018 (23,673 compared to 12,785). The litter of kittens consists of two tabby girls, a tortoiseshell girl and a tabby boy. They were picked up on June 25. If you recognise them you can call the RSPCA in confidence on 0300 123 8018. It costs the RSPCA nearly £30,000 to run an animal centre, providing vet care, food, toys and comfort to needy animals, every month.
