Olympic gold-medallist Andrew Triggs-Hodge urges you to get down to the river
(2017)
The free, family festival in Putney to celebrate and enjoy London’s iconic waterway, the River Thames, is back this Sunday 23 September.
The Foreshore Festival offers you the chance to try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), kayaking and rowing – or get down onto the foreshore for beach combing sessions to explore hundreds of years of history buried in the river banks or find out about the fragile river ecosystem and it’s threats. Whatever your interest in the river is, there’ll be something for you.
Andrew Triggs-Hodge, triple Olympic gold-medallist rower who now works at Tideway as a project manager, says: “After the success of the first foreshore festival in Putney last year, we’re delighted to be extending the event to Shadwell Basin to allow more people across the city to get involved. The festival is about getting people connected with the River Thames, to find out about the range of awesome activities it has to offer and to highlight the benefits a cleaner River Thames will bring once construction of the super sewer is complete.”
Why not join the free Tideway boat tour - Tideway is offering spaces on its acclaimed boat tour. The trip on a Thames Clipper will take you to the Tideway sites along the river from Putney Pier to Westminster departing at 13:00. Come see the #SuperSewer. Please book your place by emailing events@tideway.london
