The BID Ambassadors are employed by Positively Putney to make Putney a more welcoming clean and safe place. Gareth and Amira have been very busy over the last month, moving Christmas trees, reporting dumped rubbish, broken paving, talking to the homeless people, walkabouts with Justine Greening, local Member of Parliament, visiting businesses to discuss issues and enjoying the fake snow at the Christmas event.

Waste was the top reported issue over the last month in fact 41% of issues reported were in relation to waste. It is a mixture of commercial and residential waste and generally making Putney look dirty and messy. As a resident, Positively Putney say: "Please make sure you put your waste out on the correct day so that it can be collected appropriately. Businesses have to pay to have their waste removed via a trade waste contract and do not appreciate residential waste being dumped with their waste. We have to work together to create a cleaner environment to work, live and visit."

Positively Putney arranged for the Gum Zappers to return to Putney to remove chewing gum along Upper Richmond Road focusing on the area outside East Putney tube station. In October they spent three days removing gum along Putney High Street. It has made a big difference making the pavements look so much better.

The Ambassadors patrol looking out for environmental issues such as graffiti and fly posting, illegal street trading, abandoned vehicles and broken pavement or road signs. These are reported to the most appropriate organisation to encourage them to fix it.

Our Ambassadors have also been very busy making Putney look festive. They assisted with locating sixty Christmas Trees along Upper Richmond Road, Putney Bridge Road and Lacy Road, putting on the lights and securing the trees.

Whilst patrolling the Putney BID area, our Ambassadors also welcome residents and visitors every month, lending a helping hand to those who are in need, giving directions or travel advice. Keep an eye out for our Ambassadors in their green and blue winter jackets and hats. Come and say hello.

If you are a business within the Positively Putney BID and you would like to arrange a meeting with one of our Ambassadors to discuss any issues please see our Contact page to get in touch.
