Join the 51st State Band live in concert at Putney Arts Theatre, Friday 15 November for an evening of exceptional musical talent from the students at the World Heart Beat Music Academy.

The 51st State Band, the flagship band of World Heart Beat Music Academy, was conceived by Founder and Artistic Director Sahana Gero MBE in 2000. With boundless energy the band represents the spirit of World Heart Beat by bringing young musicians of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to learn and play together.

Now performing in its 20th year at Putney Arts Theatre, like Bonfire Night, it has become a festive event in the Wandsworth arts calendar. It is a chance for the band to really shine and showcase the vitality and dedication that students of the World Heart Beat Music Academy thrive on. A selection of jazz and film scores will be performed by seventy plus young musicians creating an upbeat musical extravaganza for all those attending.

The concert will host the Jack Petchey Awards which recognises our outstanding young people (aged 11 –25 years).

Founder and Artistic Director, Sahana Gero MBE said: “We are delighted to be at such a charming venue once again. Putney Arts Theatre is a jewel in our community and also has a large enough stage to host our band! At World Heart Beat we are delighted to be celebrating 20 years since the 51st State Band’s inception. The energy and joy is ever present and we look forward to bringing you a beautiful choice of music, fantastic singers, a host of incredible musicians and a truly inspiring and wonderful evening.”
