This is what young members of Group 64, a Putney based youth theatre have been learning to call loud and clear on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Thanks to a grant received in 2007 through the Wandsworth Council Youth Opportunity Fund Group 64 have been able to purchase cameras, laptops and editing software and are now able to offer exciting new classes in film and media - a first for the area.

Youth Director Louise Pendry says:
‘I am so excited about this new class and proud that we now have the equipment to offer such a modern and skills based class run by film professionals!’

One film student Dan Ramsden says ,“it gives children a fresh new experience and perspective into the world of drama and media …… it makes you feel like Stephen Spielberg - maybe I will direct Star wars 7 one day!”

The Movie Makers class for 7-11 year olds run on a Tuesday and the Film Class for 12-16's on a Wednesday both from 5.00 - 6.30pm. Students get the opportunity to learn about the basics of film making and work in groups taking turns in directing, acting, writing and editing short films.

Group 64 which is in its 30th year runs 9 classes a week for 4-21 year olds in drama, film, creativity and theatre craft and also offers regular holiday projects, productions and theatre residentials including an international exchange with a Swedish youth theatre this summer.

Also there is an upcoming Night of Cabaret which is part of the Wandsworth Arts festival to be held on 23rd May at 7.00pm. Tickets can be booked on 02087886943.
