Retiring collection for MIND
A very welcome return to Clare McCaldin, making her fourth appearance at the Knitting Concerts, joined on this occasion by soprano Katy Batho and pianist Stephen Higgins, to present a preview of a programme that they will be performing at a lunchtime concert in the Crush Bar at the Royal Opera House later in March.
This highly entertaining programme of songs from stage and screen will include two sets of songs by Kurt Weill alongside Hollaender's Zieh Dich aus, Petronella (Petronella, get your kit off) and Cohn and Silver's Ausgerechnet Bananen (Yes, we have no bananas) and more. So if you fancy a none too serious was to spend your Sunday evening this is just the ticket.
As ever the concert is free with complimentary wine and soft drinks and you are invited to bring something (not too noisy!) to do whilst you listen.
The proceeds from the retiring collection will go to the mental health charity, Mind - and you might like to know that the first two concerts this year each donated about £400 to Help Musicians UK and the West London Churches Homeless Concern.
The April concert will be on April 26th when Alison Hunka will be assembling a throng of string players to play lots of Elgar.
The other dates this year are May 24th and July 5th
