A native of Melbourne, Australia, Travis Baker is considered to be one of the finest organists of his homeland.

His music tuition began at the age of seven and he continued studying in Melbourne where he gained his B.Mus. (Performance) with Honours in 2001. Travis became Assistant Organist at St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne, and during this time performed as soloist with an array of Australian orchestras as well as being Director of Training Choirs for the Australian Children’s Choir.

Travis is now based in England studying with world-renowned concert Organist, Dame Gillian Weir. His recital career takes him throughout the UK and mainland Europe, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. 2010 saw Travis touring as far afield as New Zealand and a six-week tour of the USA. His growing reputation led to an invitation to perform the 2011 Annual Opening Concert for the Organ Club of Great Britain. He is Director of Music at St Mary’s Parish Church, Putney.

As a Certified Masters Teacher, Estill Voice Teaching Systems, Travis has worked with Estill Voice Systems in London, Australia, New Zealand and Northern Ireland. He has worked with Paul Farrington on Opera New Zealand’s Summer School and will be working in New Zealand again in 2018.

In late 2011, Travis was fortunate to work with Paul Farrington in training the cast of the feature film, Quartet, including Maggie Smith, Pauline Collins and Billy Connolly; in 2013/2014 he worked on the feature film The Theory of Everything training Charlie Cox, Edward “Eddie” Redmayne and Felicity Jones. He holds the position of Assistant Director of Voice at Millennium Performing Arts College, working with renowned voice specialist Mary King.

Travis is Director of Music for The Bromley Boy Singers, a competition-winning group of approximately 60 boys based in southeast London. The four choirs (training through to senior) cover a wide range of material and perform in prestigious venues such as St-Martin-in-the–Fields, the Barbican and the Royal Festival Hall. Recently they enjoyed a successful tour of Paris and in early 2015 they won the Cornwall International Choral Festival. In addition to The Bromley Boy Singers, Travis works with the Boys of Westminster Abbey and Glyndebourne Youth Opera.

We are looking forward to welcoming The Bromley Boy Singers for our December concert on 9th December. The internationally acclaimed choir will perform a Christmas programme to include Benjamin Britten’s, Ceremony of Carols.
