Thousands Pedal Through Putney In Prudential RideLondon Event | ||||
Rain and winds did not deter the cyclists nor hardy supporters along the route
German Pascal Ackermann bounced back from a mid-race crash to win the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic on The Mall after racing through Putney just minutes before. Positively Putney's BID Ambassador, Liz who was on the High Street told this website, "We did not see the large crowds this year to cheer on the cyclists but those that came certainly made themselves heard. Various charities were on Putney High Street giving their riders some much needed encouragement in the final stages of the ride. So, as not to waste the day the BID Ambassadors spent much of the day taking down 106 funfair illegal advertisements from along Putney High Street". Ackermann crashed off his bike 80km away from the end on a wet Surrey lane, undeterred he grabbed a teammate’s bike, and taking on many of the best sprinters in the world he pedaled himself back to the pack and moved to the head of the race.
