The programme of events for June at Putney Library has been announced.
THE FRIENDS OF PUTNEY LIBRARY: Weds 15 June : talk by Nick Oliver,
Visitor Engagement Manager, London Wetland Centre
On your doorstep - have you visited the London Wetland Centre? From Victorian concrete reservoirs to urban oasis, hear how this transformation was achieved and how the Wetlands offers something for every visitor.
Refreshments from 6pm, talk at 6.30pm.

Fringe: Saturday 18 June 2-4pm “nan kids”
Come and hear the hidden stories of people who had to be brought up by their grandparents. For the first 90 minutes, you will hear the stories of people who were raised in kinship care. Drop in for a few minutes or stay longer and watch, chat, and listen. During this time, Leon will be building a ‘Nan-tervention’ installation. You are welcome to help Leon to do this if you want to get involved. Come along with things that remind you of your grandparents. Leon will be arranging flowers and you can join him and paint the flowers in watercolours, or you can paint or make something that reminds you of your grandparents. This will take place around the old radio set where everyone will listen to the Nan Kid stories.
Please note, some of these stories are sad and difficult. There’s never a good reason a grandparent has to bring their grandkids up. But these too are tales of courage, hope and strength.
For the last half hour, Leon will read his own story: ‘The Last Five Days of Sandra’. This spoken word piece includes adult related themes and you may not consider this suitable for your children.

Charting 100 years of the Society’s rich and fertile history, this exhibition will take you from its roots in the garden city movement through to the present day, where the allotments continue to provide solace and nourishment to those who cultivate them.
15 – 30 June Moich Abrahams and Susie Nathanson
Award-winning neo-expressionist insider-outsider artist Moich Abrahams has been selected for numerous exhibitions in London. He has shown many times with The London Group since 1975 and also has regularly shown with Espacio Gallery in London. He been featured in Art Scribe, the Aesthetica magazine, and other magazines.
Moich enjoys combining spontaneity and playfulness with exploring deeper aspects of the unconscious. He is fascinated with both unwrapping the mysterious and reinventing child-like expressiveness. Central to this process is the art of 'letting go'. He lives and works in London.

Thursday 7 July at 6.30pm Nick Manning will be talking about his book "The Commoners" The book details the lives of 31 ‘notable neighbours’ of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons. These are people (some well-known, some not) who lived in or around our area over the last 600 years and who are remarkable in some way.
