Highlights include a talk by local historian Phil Evison on local graves
April 21, 2023 Although refurbishment work continues at Putney Library it is remaining open for the duration. While the works are being carried out, a study room is available on the ground floor: the entrance is by the enquiry desk. Ask staff for directions. Phase 2 of the project, the refurbishment of the children’s library, has begun this week and will take about six weeks. During this time a selection of children’s stock will be available on the ground floor, and Baby Rhyme Times and Story Times will also continue. Sat 6 May 11 – 2.30 Putney Library The CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III Putney library will be hosting free tea, coffee and cakes from 11-2.30 on Saturday 6 May in honour of the King’s coronation. The homeless son of a crack addict, over-sized black teenager Michael is taken in by the wealthy white Tuohy family. His presence in the Tuohys' lives leads them to valuable self-discoveries of their own. REFURBISHMENT WORKS AT PUTNEY LIBRARY: UPDATE Phase 3 is due to start in May. The ground floor windows are all being repaired and repainted, the front doors replaced and a new café/study area created. The toilets will also be refurbished. There will be a reduction in the number of public computers available, if all our computers are busy then your nearest libraries are Roehampton, Wandsworth Town or Battersea. Phase 2, the refurbishment of the children’s library, is progressing well and is due to re-open by the end of May. Meanwhile a selection of children’s stock is available on the ground floor, and Baby Rhyme Times and Story Times will also continue. The main library will remain OPEN throughout the redevelopment, but there will be some disruption. Staff will do everything possible to ensure availability of services.
