Jim Trimmer to give talk hosted by the Putney Society
September 22, 2023 The Putney Society has organised with the Port of London Authority (PLA) this coming Monday (25 September). The speaker will be Jim Trimmer, Director of Planning and Development at the PLA. Jim is expected to cover a wide range of topics from progress on the Thames Tideway and measures to combat river pollution; on ways to increase leisure and passenger use of the Thames; on plans to encourage more freight to use the river and come off our roads and how it prepares for major events such as the Boat Race. The PLA operates between Teddington Lock and the North Sea. It will be held in the Community Church in Werter Road, opposite Sainsbury and will start at 7.30pm. Stephen Luxford, Chair of the Transport Panel, at the Putney Society, who has organised the event said: “Everyone living in Putney is likely to have strong affection for the Thames. Some may be involved in activities such as rowing and sailing while others might just fancy a pint on the embankment or enjoy a stroll along the towpath. “This is a great opportunity to learn more about what is on our doorstep and also to put your views forward to someone who can enact change.” The meeting will be open to everyone. Those who are not members of the Putney Society will be invited to give a small donation to help towards the cost of hiring the hall. Refreshments will be available and there is disabled access. Putney Society, a registered charity, is an amenity society run by volunteers to preserve and enhance our local heritage and community. The Putney Society’s website contains more information about many other local issues and how to become a member.
