The Errant Stage at the Ventnor Fringe Festival, Isle of
Wight (August 2017) |
The Errant Stage is a new traveling venue in a big red van, exploring the affordable and
sustainable future of the performing arts. This alternative, professionally run, solar powered
stage has been created to offer artists an affordable space to perform and create work, whilst
allowing new audiences access to a quality of performance they may not have seen or been
able to afford before.
Big Red Poetry Tour is bringing the best performance poets of Helsinki and London to Roehampton Library Green on 12th May 5.30 - 9 pm as part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe. It starts its journey on the 10th of May at Henry Prince Estate, known as Mayor Sadiq Khan ’s
home estate. It will be Open Mic nights at this Roehampton venue from 7-9pm. Watch the resident poets perform
back-to-back then get up and give it a go yourself!
The Poets performing are Finnish and British; Nihkee Akka (FIN); Helsinki Poetry Slam Champion 2018,
Outi-Illuusia Parviainen (FIN,) Sean Mahoney (UK), Toby Thompson (UK) plus three
specially chosen, emerging local poets from Wandsworth; Dialectic Dee , Rick Dove
and Aisling Towl .
All of the events are free of charge and require no pre-booking.
The tour is aimed
at areas of Wandsworth with less access to live performing arts.
It advocates for a strong creative relationship between the UK and
Europe whilst helping to professionalise emerging artists from the
local area. The project invites to rethink the concept of creative
space and where it can exist. Their answer is: anywhere.
