Nearly £7,000 raised since LED signage was introduced in June

Nearly £7,000 in fines have been issue in just a few weeks after the 'virtual' barrier was installed at the end of Dryburgh Road.

Details released following a Freedom of Information (FOI) from local resident John Cameron has shown that since the camera was installed in June there have been a total of 163 PCN's issued.

Wandsworth Council removed the physical barrier that required manual opening and closure due to the costs of running the scheme. The barrier was removed and an LED sign was installed. However TfL confirmed in response to the FOI that this LED no entry sign was 'was not adequate to permit enforcement on its own'.


One driver not prepared to pass the barrier

They claim that they have 'enhanced the signage by installing advanced notice no left and right turn signs that were accompanied with a time plate showing hours of operation as 07:00-10:00 Mon – Friday, and this was installed on 16 May 2016. TfL does not issue Fixed Penalty Notice but 163 Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) have been issued since we began issuing PCNs on 16 June 2016'.

The FOI response confirmed that the revenue received since 16 June is £6,955 an average of £424 per day.

In the few minutes it took to take the photo in the rain three cars drove through the 'barrier' ker-ching three more PCNs.
