McDonald's on Putney High Street, has applied to the Council for an extension their trading hours which will allow them to stay open at the weekends until 2am.

They want to be able to serve food and non-alcoholic drinks on Friday and Saturday nights up to that time. The purchases will be consumed in and outside of the premises at 84 Putney High Street. They will be open until midnight on other evenings.

In their application they state that they understand that in extending their opening hours they have a duty to the local community and that 'we continue to protect our staff and customers from danger and harm'. They point out that they don't serve alcohol or drinks in glass receptacles and that the premises are covered by CCTV. The staff have panic buttons that they can press in the event of trouble.

On the issue of litter they say that the were the first company to introduce litter patrols in the UK and that all their packaging displays the word's 'Bin It'.

They have made similar applications for two other branches in the borough.

A 28 days consultation period began on 6 February when the application was received by the Local Authority. If representations have been received then the application will be decided by the Licensing Committee. All those who made valid representations will be invited to attend the hearing.
