Who's Who
David Chinchen - Chief Superintendent
Chief Superintendent David Chinchen joined the Metropolitan Police in 1981 and first served at Wandsworth Police Station. He has since served in Streatham, Southwark, Bromley and Sutton together with postings at headquarters where he has had responsibility for operations to tackle knife crime, gangs and serious youth violence. More recently he has served in Wandsworth as lead for operations and partnership, leaving in June 2011 to again lead crime operations under Operation Target to address a range of crime threats across some twenty London Boroughs.

Born and bred in Balham and Tooting, he has always had strong connections with the Borough. He and his family have lived on a Dutch barge on the Wandsworth bank of the Thames for a number of years and have now returned to dry land in Tooting Bec.

Chief Superintendent Chinchen was educated at Ernest Bevin School and went on to achieve a 1st Class Honours Degree in Geography from the University of Wales and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Aside from professional interests in tackling gang-based violence and developing youth engagement, he spends time with the family, tends a small garden and enjoys all that Wandsworth and London has to offer.

Inspector Jayme Johnson is the Inspector with particular responsibility for the Safer Neighbourhood Policing Teams in the Putney area.

Safer Neighbourhood Teams is a new ward based policing style that will be able to tackle quality-of-life crimes and anti social behaviour issues that are affecting their ward, their neighbourhood. Safer neighbourhood teams will each consist of a minimum of one Police Sergeant, two police constables and three Police community support officers.
