Back in May 2017 Putney residents welcomed the opening of Bistro Vadouvan on the Putney Wharf development. The restaurant offered a combination of "classical French cuisine with subtle elements of Middle Eastern and Asian spice.”

Described by Hardens guide as offering “a brilliant combination of flavours” and readers on the forum have described it as "great food and very different from the usual fare", "great asset" but last weekend their website informed customers that:
"With deep regret, we announce that our journey at Bistro Vadouvan has ended. We would like to thank you for your custom and love over the last two and a half years.

"We hope we will be able to open at a different location soon. Please let us know if you would like us to be in touch. Our email is info@bistrovadouvan.co.uk. From Chef Durga Misra."

Bistro Vadouvan replaced much mourned Alquimia which had opened in May 2013 offering fabulous tapas and classic fish and Iberian dishes. But that closed its doors in December 2016, the chef telling PutneySW15 they could not get enough customers despite rave reviews.

Previously the site and has also house Giraffe and Tootsies restaurants. Neighbouring restaurant Carluccios has been open for nearly one and half decades, so why does this venue had such a change of ownership? Share your views on the forum.

We have asked Durga Misra & Positively Putney the local Business Improvement District (BID) for comment.
