Pata Negra becomes instant family favourite!
Walk in to Pata Negra and you will be warmly welcomed by Pepe who has been a face of Putney for some time, for those who remember Destino's on the Upper Richmond Road.
The restaurant is simple in style - think industrial meet rustic quirky! The team are friendly and efficient and the food delicious and great value.
Starting the bank holiday with a family reunion a tapas suited all parties and at 9.30pm eating Spanish style seemed the right thing to do. With fabulous vegetarian options - mixed mushrooms with garlic and chillies (£5.95) and Padron Peppers with rock salt (£5.50) to melt in the mouth Pata Negra (£13.95 for a plate) or combined with salchicho and chorizo on the Iberican meat platter (£18). From the sea the garlic prawns were ordered (twice)!
Despite the late arrival the restaurant was still quite busy and obviously there were regulars in, chatting to Pepe, and relaxing over their meal, lending to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the restaurant. Putney resident Nadal Ramini, who was eating there yesterday said: "In a sea of chain restaurants and disappointing food, Pata Negra is a beacon of light. Authentic Spanish tapas served by passionate staff at just the right price".

Feeding three men all over six foot needs a lot of food and the plates kept coming! The spicy chicken skewers (£5.50) received great praise, crisp on the outside and tender inside was served with peppery rocket and the old family favourite of chorizo in red wine (£6.95) was fought over.
It would not be tapas with out the 'boys' favourite patatas bravas (£4.50) and they were not disappointed with the generous portion, but I think they went back for seconds. My only concern is that they will be asking to go back rather too often over the summer!
