At long last the vacant site to filled as the home for third Boma restaurant

Work has begun on bringing an exciting new restaurant to a landmark retail unit often referred to as “The Gateway to Putney”.

The council has agreed a lease with a restaurant company for commercial premises at 4-6 Putney High Street. This prominent shopfront on the junction with the Lower Richmond Road has been vacant for some time but is now poised for a new lease of life with a planned opening later this summer of a new restaurant called Boma Bridge.

The council acquired this empty unit in 2014 in order to support the regeneration of this corner of the high street. Bringing the premises back into use was seen as crucially important to these efforts because of its high profile location.

Wandsworth Council leader Ravi Govindia, who is also the town hall’s spokesman on regeneration said:
“We hope that our success in securing a new tenant for this vacant commercial unit will add greater vitality to this part of the high street, support other neighbouring businesses and hopefully attract new ones. It’s a really great location for a restaurant and we wish Boma every success in their new venture.”

Boma spokesman Kieran Monteiro added:
“This will be the third Boma Restaurant and will be called Boma Bridge. We name our sites geographically hence Boma Green in Parsons Green, Boma WBR at Wandsworth Bridge Road and now Boma Bridge in honour of Putney Bridge.

“Our focus is on hospitality and we've grown our business by building relationships with everyone around and involved in our restaurants. We're thrilled to be opening in Putney.”
