Donkey Brings Smiles To High Street | ||||
“There’s a new Mexican Boss in Town… & he won't have four legs! ”
A donkey hit the pavements of Putney today (10th February) in honour of the launch of new Mexican late night bar, El Patron. Accompanied by a poncho clad team of admirers he donned a local policeman's hat, stopped for selfies with fans and even popped into the tube to purchase a travel card. He wasn't giving rides despite many offers from passers by who brayed with delight at seeing a donkey in the middle of the day, seeming more interested in the delicious tacos and burritos available at El Patron. EL Patron is tongue-in-cheek late night Mexican bar serving over 60 different tequilas, original cocktails and authentic street food in a vibrant space based on Latin America’s most iconic country. Located a stone’s throw away from Putney Station on the Upper Richmond Road, El Patron will be a celebration of all that is fun and enjoyable in Latin culture. The bar will be presided over by the heavily moustached, poncho-clad El Patron (the boss) character, who will welcome guests in his inimitable style. Visitors will be whisked away to sunnier shores from the moment they enter without even having to set foot outside of London. The talented El Patron bar team has created the perfect range of Mexican-inspired cocktails, with one of London’s largest ranges of different tequilas stocked. Actress Cleo Rocos is already an ambassador for the playful bar and her AquaRiva tequila will be the house pour at El Patron, being used in eye-catching sharing cocktails such as Piñata and the Head Hunter which will be served in classic Mexican vessels - perfect for parties. Other signature drinks will include: Escobar’s Secret, an exotic concoction of Mezcal, Crème de Mure, Vanilla Syrup, Lime, Apple and Ginger Ale, a Jalapeno and Blood Orange Margarita and The Scorpion, a heady blend of AquaRiva Blanco, Stone’s Ginger Wine, Lime, Chipotle, Falernum Liqueur, Ginger Beer and Bitters. Guests will enjoy simple but delicious Mexican street food and sharing dishes at informal wooden tables. Dishes will include burritos, tacos and quesadillas, alongside tortilla chips with a variety of different salsas and El Patron’s Secret Guacamole. The perfect place for any type of celebration, group bookings will receive a party box at their table full of Mexican props and moustaches to enjoy throughout the evening. There will even be a photobooth to capture all the nighttime antics. Weekly events will feature a madcap Mexican Saturday brunch party with live entertainment where guests will certainly be making waves and #tashonthursdays where the best moustache selfie of the night will be awarded a special prize by El Patron himself.
