Hypnobirthing is a childbirth preparation program that teaches simple but specific self hypnosis, relaxation, and visualization techniques for a better birth. It is a way of training the mother to overcome the physical, mental and emotional obstacles to a successful and pain-free childbirth experience. Several techniques are used which incorporate learning self-hypnosis for deep relaxation, focusing on the positive aspects of childbirth, and creating a natural anesthesia though the power of your own mind. The advantages are fantastic for before AND after childbirth because you can use the skills for the rest of your life.

You will learn how to put yourself in control of your birth experience. It allows you to discover and experience the joy of birth, which is unique to you.

Hypnobirthing teaches you the different levels of a waking trance state, which will allow you to be able to talk, move, have your eyes opened but be relaxed and in control. You'll always be aware of what is happening to you, and around you. This is preparing for birth so you experience a calm, relaxing, comfortable and positive birth.

Women who are calm and have positive expectations of their birthing tend to experience less pain. Fear creates tension, and tension causes muscles to tighten, causing a more difficult labour. When women are relaxed and work with their bodies, they have less or no pain, more effective contractions and therefore a shorter labour.
