Be aware that there have been a number of thefts of parts from high value cars, such as Porsche, Aston Martin and Audi. These include car bumbers, wings and number plates.

The advice from the Crime Prevention Officer is to park the vehicle in a secure place if possible, such as a garage or outside your own home, in a well lit area with good natural surveillance.

Consider marking any vulnerable parts with an ultra violet pen, using your postcode and house number or with a proprietary system, such as Selectamark DNA. This might not prevent the theft but could help recover the parts if they are stolen.

Contact your car alarm supplier and see if it is possible to extend the alarm to cover items such as the bumpers, so that it is triggered when the item is detached from the car.
