Given suspended sentence after being caught by undercover officer
October 15, 2024 A postman who has worked a route in Putney for over two decades has been convicted of possessing and sharing indecent images of children. 44-year-old Jamie Farley, who lives in Sutton sent a photo of a six-year-old child to what he believed was a fellow paedophile but was in fact an undercover police officer engaged in a sting operation last May. Following his arrest, his devices were found to have hundreds of indecent images on them. After pleading guilty to voyeurism and three counts of making indecent images, he was given a jail sentence of 28 weeks suspended for two years at the Inner London Crown Court last Friday (11 October). He is also required to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and attend 40 days of rehabilitation activity. He is the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and remains on the sexual offender’s register for seven years. The judge said that he had decided not to send Farley to prison because he had shown remorse and had been attending courses designed to deal with his addiction to internet pornography which claimed he had developed during the pandemic. Royal Mail has suspended Farley from duty and a spokesman said, “Royal Mail always expects the highest standards from its staff and the behaviours reported have no place in our business. We were not informed of the charges and as soon as we were made aware he was suspended pending an internal investigation.”
