Attempted Murder Arrest After Upper Richmond Road Stabbing

A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed on Upper Richmond Road on Wednesday afternoon (19 August). Emergency services were called shortly after 3pm, with police, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all responding to the incident.
The London Ambulance Service said it was called at 3.09pm and sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast ‑response car, an incident response officer and the Air Ambulance. The first crews arrived within four minutes. A man in his thirties was treated at the scene before being taken by road as a priority to a major trauma centre. His condition has not yet been confirmed.
Police arrested a man in his fifties on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody. Officers said the two men were known to each other and that there is no wider risk to the public.
A large cordon was put in place following the stabbing, and Upper Richmond Road was closed between Charlwood Road and Ravenna Road while emergency services worked at the scene.
