Putney Crime Briefing - 2 June, 2004

Below are details of the street crimes and burglaries reported to Putney police between 27^th May
and 2 June, 2004

The summer weather has brought out some thieves out, as well as the flowers. We have had one or two cases already of houses being entered through doors left open whilst the occupiers are in the garden. Please take care not to leave an open invitation for them; in particular do not leave the keys in the lock.

Street Robbery	PUTNEY HIGH STREET	01/06/2004	2255	The victim was asked for her phone, and the two suspects then swung her into some railings, punched her and stole the phone. Both were female, black, with large gold earrings.
Theft Snatch	WEST HILL	27/05/2004	2300	Asian male suspect snatched victim's phone, cash and bank card.

Non-Residential Burglary	PUTNEY HIGH STREET	30/05/2004	1520			Suspect walked into shop, then into staff room and attempted to open safe. He was 19 yrs, black with a light, spotty, complexion, wearing a blue hooded top, grey tracksuit trousers and baseball cap.
Non-Residential Burglary	COLINETTE ROAD	31/05/2004	1600	31/05/2004	1615	Suspect entered office and tried to remove laptop, but left when challenged. He was 35 yrs, male, black.
Residential Burglary	CHELVERTON ROAD	27/05/2004	2230			Suspect forced the window locks in an attempt to gain entry. He was male, white, 25 yrs, with black hair, wearing a black leather jacket and carrying a white carrier bag.

Non-Residential Burglary	SWINBURNE ROAD	25/05/2004	2300	26/05/2004	0815	Intruder climbed into the victim’s garden, cut the padlock from the shed and stole pedal cycle after forcing two locks.

Residential Burglary	ROEHAMPTON LANE	26/05/2004	0525	26/05/2004	0535	Suspect entered hallway through fire door and removed property.
Residential Burglary	CHELVERTON ROAD	27/05/2004	2220			Suspect seen attempting to jemmy open a window using a screwdriver. When confronted he made an excuse and left. He was male, white, 25 yrs, with black hair, wearing a black leather jacket and carrying a white carrier bag.

CRIME PREVENTION ADVICE

Advice on all aspects of crime prevention can be obtained from the Putney Crime Prevention Shop, next to the Odeon Cinema in Putney High Street, (telephone 020 8785 8874). The shop is open to the public between 10am and 5-30pm, Mondays to Saturdays.
