She was prompted to do so after hearing about an increase in vehicle thefts in Putney. The focus of the meeting will be on crime prevention and local police officers will be attending. The meeting will take place on Monday 17 April at 6.30pm, at the Platt Centre, 22 Felsham Road. Refreshments will be available from 6.15pm. The aim is to provide an opportunity for police officers to listen to residents’ concerns and answer questions. The Labour MP has also met with BCU Commander to discuss how the spate of crime can be ended. She said, “I have been concerned to hear reports of rising car theft in the local area and asked them about actions being taken to stop the thefts. I have met with the new Police Commander for Wandsworth to raise my concerns about this worrying trend and am hosting a public meeting for residents to speak directly with senior police officers about how they’re combatting these crimes. I have also met with our local police visiting homes on streets that have been victims of this crime. Please do share details of the meeting with your neighbours and ensure you are following the crime prevention guidance closely.” The Met has also issued crime prevention guidance around keeping vehicles safe. They are asking residents to ensure cars are always securely locked with keys kept in a safe place, out of the sight of windows.
