Mia Kazi's first novel even has Putney Bridge on the cover
Former educator Mia Kazi, who worked in local secondary schools for many years, has published her first novel. She lived in Putney for over a decade and her partner was born here. Although she has now decamped to Tunbridge Wells to be able to live in a house big enough for her family, she decided to base the story of 'An Unusual Year' in SW15. The book's cover features a picture of Putney Bridge. It tells the story of how 'flirtatious' Jo wondering whether she has lesbian tendencies, begins a relationship with Izzy, a fellow teacher. Then, Jo moves on to Julia, and agrees to go on a holiday with her to Laos, where she meets Jonno, who isn't what he seems, and he tricks Jo into becoming a drug mule. Leaving Laos in great haste, Jo and Julia are stunned when Jonno appears threateningly at their flat in London, and Jo realises she has to solve not only the dilemma of his arrival, but also coming to terms with the fact that she has completely fallen in love with another woman. An Unusual Year was released on 30 June and is available to buy on Amazon.
