Girls at Putney High are celebrating the school’s best ever results at GCSE when examinations were taken.

This year’s results also equalled the centre assessed grades of 2020 with half the exams taken being give a grade 9 the top mark.

In addition, three quarters of results were at 9 or 8 (A*), 13 students achieved a straight run of 10 or more grade 9s and 90% of grades were awarded grades 9 – 7.

There were high scoring subjects across the disciplines - from English Literature (66% grade 9) and Geography (64% grade 9) to Latin (71% grade 9) and Biology (56% grade 9).

Almost half the year group achieved grade 9 in English Language, Maths and Physics.

Putney’s many linguists excelled, with results including Mandarin and Spanish with 50% and 52% grade 9s respectively.

Head Suzie Longstaff said, “After two years of uncertainty and disruption, we are delighted that this fantastic year group have had all their perseverance rewarded with some exceptional results.

“Year 11 have shown enormous spirit and positivity throughout their GCSE course, putting their all into not only on their studies, but on their many passions and interests outside the classroom. I look forward to seeing them progress in the Sixth Form.
