New Group of Putney Life Savers Seeks Volunteers | ||||
First aid charity St John Ambulance are keen for local people aged from 10 years old to join
New volunteers at the adult unit (aged 18 and over) will receive free training in life saving skills, enabling them to provide first aid cover at public events, such as summer fetes, concerts, Wimbledon, or rugby matches at Twickenham. The training will also give them the confidence to do the right thing should there be a medical emergency in their local community. No previous experience is required as full training is provided. St John Ambulance Cadets are aged 10 to 17 years old and offer young people the chance to take part in volunteer work and learn valuable life skills, including leadership, public speaking and first aid. Cadets take part in a full and interactive programme working towards the Grand Prior Award and have the opportunity to volunteer at events, such as music festivals, football matches and the London Marathon. The new Putney Cadets are also looking for youth leaders to help run the group. Again, no experience is required as full training will be provided. Area manager Paul Zhar said: ‘We hope there are many people living and working in and around the area who would be interested in learning to save lives and to volunteer with St John Ambulance. Of course, those first aid skills aren’t just used when the volunteers are at events. Learning first aid means they’re equipped to help family and friends at home, work, or anywhere else that an emergency happens. They can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.’ To find out more, contact Sophia Harrison, Unit Manager, on Sophia.harrison1@sja.org.uk or phone Sophia on 07849408065.
