Wandsworth
Show to be Victim of Council Cut Backs
Tony
Colman, MP for Putney was shocked to hear that Wandsworth
Council has decided to cancel the only free show for local
residents. The
Wandsworth Borough Show is to be axed to save the Council
money, despite being the only event of its kind. Last year
it was successfuly hosted on Putney Common.
Tony
Colman said:
"50,000
people attend the Show. If the Council want to save
money they might want to look at scrapping non-essential
extra trimmings such as the Mayor's Tent, rather than
axing the entire event."

Tony
Colman added:
"I
have written to the Chief Executive of Wandsworth Council
asking him to reconsider. I think that the 50,000 people who
attend usually attend the show would support me in this."
