WARD PRIORITIES:
At the last Southfields Neighbourhood Panel meetings a number of issues were raised. The ones that appear to be of most concern for this quarter were:
School- Anti-social behaviour
On Wandsworth Borough we have run a number of operations to combat ASB and will continue to do so through March. Southfields SNT are working closely with our partners from Schools and Southside Shopping Centre to tackle Anti-social behaviour from school children in our area. We actively patrol in and around the Southfields Community College and Southside Shopping Centre to deter and reduce ASB. We have arranged for the installation of CCTV opposite Southfields Community College to gather information and evidence of ASB and crime and to prevent the youths from amassing and lingering in the area.
Dog issues/King Georges Park
Our SNT has been looking at the dog issues in KGP. We will be conducting joint patrols with the Parks Police and WBC dog warden team. Handouts detailing owner’s responsibilities are also being prepared as part of our education and prosecution patrols. New signs for King Georges Park are being arranged and are expected to arrive in April. A youth engagement DVD has been produced for young people with dogs. Filmed in December, it will be part of a workshop that the Youth Offending Team will be running throughout various youth centres across the borough.
School-age robberies:
We have had a positive response to our efforts to combat school-age robberies. The Met-wide initiative was set up in September to coincide with the back to school period. It continued during the Christmas and half terms breaks. For us, this meant extended high-visibility patrols daily, near Southfields Tube Station the Community College, King Georges Park and Southside Shopping Centre.
