CRIME PREVENTION:
Motor Vehicles

To prevent YOU from becoming a victim of crime and to assist us, please remember that any possessions left in your CAR, at any time are at risk from THIEVES . Satellite Navigation is becoming more popular with motorists; it is also becoming more popular with criminals. Please remove it, along with the cradle, when you leave the car.

Be aware-be secure. As we look towards the warmer weather please be vigilant of open doors and windows. If you cannot see it don’t leave it open!

There are window locks available that lock your windows open allowing for fresh air while not compromising your personal security. A burglary is a huge invasion of privacy so avoid it at all costs.

Road Safety

Road safety on the ward is another issue that was raised at the ward panel meeting. The SNT have been working with Wandsworth Borough Council regarding the traffic calming measures and layout of the GRID area. Mr. Martin Hoare from Wandsworth Borough Council Technical Services/Traffic Unit attended the meeting and answered questions. He has already organised sleeping Policemen on parts of the Grid to slow traffic and is reviewing Replingham Road and the layout of the main junction at Wimbledon Park Road. To contact him E-Mail mhoare@wandsworth.gov.ukor telephone 2088716664

Immobilise

TO PROTECT IT…REGISTER IT!! www.immobilise.com

Please ensure that you have registered all your serial numbers on the Immobilise website, this includes your mobile phone IMEI number; which you can obtain by dialling *#06#

When you register your property details are entered into the Immobilise database. This information is then available to all UK police officers who regularly search the database when property is recovered. So, if property is lost or stolen anywhere within the UK and located by police, or any of the lost property services, you will have your property returned to you!

WARD PRIORITIES:

At the last Southfields Neighbourhood Panel meetings a number of issues were raised. The ones that appear to be of most concern for this quarter were:

School- Anti-social behaviour
On Wandsworth Borough we have run a number of operations to combat ASB and will continue to do so through March. Southfields SNT are working closely with our partners from Schools and Southside Shopping Centre to tackle Anti-social behaviour from school children in our area. We actively patrol in and around the Southfields Community College and Southside Shopping Centre to deter and reduce ASB. We have arranged for the installation of CCTV opposite Southfields Community College to gather information and evidence of ASB and crime and to prevent the youths from amassing and lingering in the area.

Dog issues/King Georges Park
Our SNT has been looking at the dog issues in KGP. We will be conducting joint patrols with the Parks Police and WBC dog warden team. Handouts detailing owner’s responsibilities are also being prepared as part of our education and prosecution patrols. New signs for King Georges Park are being arranged and are expected to arrive in April. A youth engagement DVD has been produced for young people with dogs. Filmed in December, it will be part of a workshop that the Youth Offending Team will be running throughout various youth centres across the borough.

School-age robberies:
We have had a positive response to our efforts to combat school-age robberies. The Met-wide initiative was set up in September to coincide with the back to school period. It continued during the Christmas and half terms breaks. For us, this meant extended high-visibility patrols daily, near Southfields Tube Station the Community College, King Georges Park and Southside Shopping Centre.
