Barnes Charity Bike Sale Collections Begin this Weekend

Scheme gives bikes a second chance and raises money for charity

This Saturday (17 August) sees the first opportunity to donate your bike to be sold at the annual Barnes Charity Bike Sale.

The recycling scheme to give bikes a second chance and to raise money for local good causes.

The sell or donate your bike fill in a form on the Barnes Charity Bike Sale web site and bring it along to St Mary's Church, Barnes, SW13 9HL between 10am and noon.

Volunteers give the bikes a little TLC and check them over and sell them for charity on sale day - this year on Saturday 14 September from 9.30am to noon. There's often a big queue and usually a bike a minute is sold during the first hour of the sale. In previous years adults', children's, teen bikes - even a couple of tricycles and folding bikes have beenavailable.

Since 2006, the event has repaired 1,770 bikes and raised over £100,000 for the charities its supports.

Further collection days are taking place at the following dates and times:

Saturday 24 August: 10-midday
Thursday 5 September: 5-7pm
Saturday 7 September: 10-midday
