After a gap of two years, while the new hospital was being built, the summer fair at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton will take place again this year on Saturday 2 nd June from 1 – 4 pm.

Attractions will include stalls, a tombola and lucky dip and for children there will be a balloon race, face painting and other games. There will be a steel band, BBQ, bar, teas and strawberries and cream. Other events will be announced nearer the time.

The fair will be held in the lower level of the new hospital in Roehampton Lane and there will be a marquee in case of bad weather. The car park charge will be just £1 for the whole day, and all proceeds will go to charity.

Diana Kinloch, chair of the Friends of Queen Mary’s says: “The annual summer fair at Queen Mary’s has always been a very popular event in Roehampton and we are so pleased that we have been able to revive it. In 2004 the summer fair raised nearly £6000 and we have high hopes of raising a substantial sum again this year.

“During the building of the new hospital, the Friends of Queen Mary’s almost disappeared off the map but now we are back and have a wonderful group of volunteers who are adding a great deal to the new hospital.”

The aim of the Friends is to help current and former patients of Queen Mary's Hospital - those patients who are disabled, infirm or in need of financial assistance. They support the charitable work of the hospital by providing voluntary services and extra amenities for patients and staff. Their sources of revenue are fundraising, donations and legacies.
