The series of Sunday recitals at St Margaret’s Church on Putney Park Lane continues with a performance by solo pianist Robert Bridge.

This Sunday (29 September) he will be playing pieces with an association with romantic vistas from 4pm to 5.15pm.

Programme

Chopin Etude in C sharp minor, op.25/7

Chopin Scherzo no.3 in C sharp minor, op.39

Brahms Four Piano Pieces, op.119

Franck Prelude, Chorale and Fugue

Robert says that for many people the finest things to come out of Belgium are Stella Artois, the invention of asphalt and the EU directive on banana curvature - but that would be to overlook the achievement of César Franck, composer of that iconic violin sonata; the Prelude, Chorale and Fugue which concludes this programme in a rich landscape of intense harmonies and stirring melodies. It is preceded by two passionate and evocative pieces by Chopin and the very last piano pieces that Brahms ever wrote.

Robert Bridge has been delighting Putney audiences with his playing and questionable humour for 30 years and organises an annual series of Knitting Concerts at All Saints.

Cabaret: Frau, that's what I call music!
Feminist cabaret with Anna Pool & Amy J Payne: Dietrich, Lemper, La Voix…

The cabaret has given rise to some of the most boundary pushing female performers of the 20th & 21st Centuries. Yet the songwriters behind these performers, those who get remembered, are usually male. Amy and Anna invite you to a relaxed and intimate cabaret of words and music from an array of female songwriters. Expect riotous laughter, quiet reflection, and plenty of joyful surprises as we journey from Piaf to protests to…penguins?

Sunday 27 October (4pm – 5:15pm)
