With fewer than forty shopping days left until Christmas, the festive calendar is already starting to look very full.

As ever, a wide range of community events are being planned across Putney and Roehampton. If you are organising something in the area over the holidays, email editor@putneySW15.com and we will add it to the listings below.

The seasonal events kick off on Saturday 30 November with the Frosty Films Ice Sculpture Trail and Light Switch On.

From 10am a community stage will showcase performances from local schools, dance, and drama groups at Church Square, just off Putney High Street. The festive light switch-on, will be at 5pm.

22 ice sculptures from Icebox will be dotted around the town centre.

Events on the stage will be compered by presenters from Riverside Radio

On Sunday 1 December Putney School of Art and Design is holding its Christmas Fair from 10am to 5pm.

Taking place in the Main School building in Oxford Road SW15 2LQ, this is an annual showcase event, organised by Putney School of Art and Design (PSAD) and Friends of the School (FPSAD).

The arts and crafts stalls and display will include original prints, limited edition photographs, framed work, beautiful and quirky ceramics by renowned and new ceramicists, unique collection of artists original cards, created specially for this event. The cafe will be open all day and there will be an opportunity for budding artists to talk to students and teachers about studying at the school.

The Southfields lights switch-on is taking place on Wednesday 4 December at 5pm on Replingham Road.

The Parish of Putney is holding a Community Christmas Afternoon Tea for the elderly or isolated at St Mary’s Putney, Putney High Stree from 2.30-4pm onThursday 5 December. Afternoon refreshments will be served as guests enjoy carols/ seasonal music from a local school choir. To attend RSVP by Monday 2 December to Julie.Craig@parishofputney.co.uk or 020 3903 4732.

Our Lady of Pity & St Simon Stock, Catholic Church is holding its Christmas Fair on Saturday 7 December, 12-3pm at Our Lady of Victories School Hall, 1 Clarendon Drive (SW15 1AW).

All are welcome to this family-friendly celebration of the Christmas season. There will be arts & crafts, games, cakes, food, mulled wine & mince pies and a Raffle Prize Draw, with a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.
